Energy is everywhere! In this camp we will explore energy-related phenomena and explore energy transfer using the Project Lead the Way Launch module "Energy Exploration."

Campers will explore ways that energy is at play all around us. They will make observations of energy-related events and investigate ways that energy can be transferred. Through scientific observations, hands-on explorations, and field trips to energy sources campers will learn all about energy and why it is so important in their lives.

*This day camp has a daily drop-off between 8:00-8:30 AM, and pick-up in the afternoon between 4:00-4:30 PM.*

Space is Limited: Early registration is recommended. Campers will be registered on a first-come, first-served basis, based upon date of registration and when payment is received. Waiting lists will be maintained and filled in the order that they were received should cancellations occur.

Camp Activities:

  • Campers will visit various businesses to learn about careers and real-life uses of energy through an interactive experience on “Main Street.” There will also be a virtual field trip of a dam to explore sources of energy.
  • Campers will use the engineering design process to design a windmill prototype with moving blades using VEX Go.
  • Campers will get to explore alternative energy sources with a field trip to solar village and the green roof at Missouri S&T.
  • After learning about what happens when objects collide, campers will have the chance to design a restraint system for a vehicle. Using VEX Go they will design a vehicle to carry an egg down a ramp and see if their design helps keep the egg intact.
